Some people buy art and gaze at it for long hours. Connoisseurs of a different kind invest their money in having a great time. I’m talking about the unmatched LOUIS XIII Cognac Rare Cask 42.1 — the luxury cognac’s first rare cask release in a decade. Allaying yourself of the moolah ($50,000) makes complete sense to sample the expertise of fifth-generation Cellar Master Baptiste Loiseau, who found a single tiercon containing a particularly aromatic profile in the cellars of Domaine du Grollet, the home of the Louis XIII Legacy.

Louis XIII’s tiercons are created from more than 100-year-old French oak trees. The tierçon provides just enough liquid for 775 numbered bottles to be released worldwide. The decanters are beautiful creations crafted from black Baccarat crystal, lending a jewel-like black finish. The bottles are further enhanced by gold and rhodium in addition to a ring engraved with quadrilobe patterns paying homage to France’s fleur de lys. The Louis XIII Cognac Rare Cask 42.1 hand-made decanters are made masterfully by 20 artisans.

The bottle comes in a set with two ornate crystal glasses and a serving pipette. The ABV is 42.1%, giving the rare case its name. The limited-edition release will be celebrated with exclusive tasting experiences in several cities worldwide – including Paris, Zurich, London, Dubai, Beverly Hills, New York, Miami, Las Vegas, and Kuala Lumpur – as Louis XIII reveals this exceptional launch to clients on a global scale.
