Not everything that glitters is gold, and not everything expensive is excellent. Disney World’s expensive Star Wars hotel, Galactic Starcruiser, is an accurate example of this. The Star Wars-themed hotel is shuttings its doors after just a year. It was a one-stop shop to realize all space adventure dreams but at an astronomical cost of around $6,000 for a two-night stay in a standard room.

The fanciest suites could set one back by a whopping $20,000, which doesn’t include the experiences. It forces one to think, are the days of Star Wars over?

The franchise is practically alien, pun intended, to Gen-Z, which, despite accolades and awards like the Thea Award for outstanding achievement in a themed entertainment space, doesn’t make the cut. In a statement announcing the closure, Disney officials called Starcruiser one of their most creative projects ever. ‘Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is one of our most creative projects ever and has been praised by our guests and recognized for setting a new bar for innovation and immersive entertainment,’ the company said.

‘This premium, boutique experience gave us the opportunity to try new things on a smaller scale of 100 rooms, and as we prepare for its final voyage, we will take what we’ve learned to create future experiences that can reach more of our guests and fans,’ the statement read. The part live immersive theater, part themed environment, part culinary extravaganza, part real-life role-playing game will indeed be missed by those with deep pockets and a desire to dwell in the Star Wars universe.

But when compared to other lavish properties around the world, like the legendary Burj Al Arab in Dubai, $1,500 get a couple a royal suite for a night with a Rolls Royce transfer. Disney said it will halt bookings on the hotel until at least May 26. This is your last chance to rendezvous with Kylo Ren, Rey, and Chewbacca.
